They say a broken clock is right at least twice a day. Yet, ESPN has only been right once. Though they are still operating well below broken clocks status, it appears that, unlike last year, the “four-letter network” finally got it right. At least when it comes to who to give this year’s Arthur Ashe Courage Award to.

The premiere episode of HBO’s new weekly sports talk show hosted by Bill Simmons debuted Wednesday night. The 46-year-old blogger, podcaster and ESPN talent now hosts his very own talk show on HBO called Any Given Wednesday where he is free to allow guests to swear like sailors and he can have fun bashing Republicans.

So, riddle me this: how does a company edict, that requires employees to not wade into political matter of an inflammatory nature, change from a sternly enforced rule, to all of a sudden becoming, no biggie?

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith jumped the shark quite some time ago. However, this may take the cake. On Tuesday’s edition of First Take on ESPN2, Smith took strong exception with Brock Osweiler, the former Bronco, and current Houston Texans quarterback. Osweiler opted to not attend the Broncos visit to the White House on Monday, and instead spent the time at OTA’s with his new team.

In a week with the NBA Finals beginning, and an African-American baseball player named Mookie Betts tearing the cover off the ball (in a sport that the media loves to single out for lack of black representation), you’d think ESPN’s flagship website, the one that deals with sports and race, would be far too busy talking about Lebron, Steph Curry, and Mookie to slander President Obama’s political…

Just in case you missed it, or have been living in some kind of cave where the powers of media are incapable of penetrating, HBO’s Real Sports is neither really real, nor is it even really about sports. On Tuesday night’s episode of Real Sports, the investigative arm of HBO’s leftist sports department took exception with the AR-15 rifle.

The hurt is still quite strong within the sports media, in the wake of the Washington Post poll declaring that 9 out of 10 Native Americans are not offended by the word “Redskin.” This particular episode of sour grapes comes from NBC’s Pro Football Talk, headed-up by Mike Florio, who was one of the first members of the sports media to stop using the word “Redskin.”

The revelation, that 90% of Native Americans are in no way offended by the word Redskin, may not have swayed the uber-leftist panel of ESPN’s Around the Horn to change their minds about the Redskins name. However, it apparently has caused at least one member of the mainstream press to drop his opposition to the team name.

The Washington Post released a poll on Thursday, which showed that 90% of Native Americans do not take offense to the word, Redskins. The sports media responded to this poll by apologizing for decades of fear-mongering, race-baiting, and trying to make a national crisis out of something that is not even a crisis in the Indian community. Just kidding. They freaked out.

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: an ESPN commentator desires to get his name in the news by cracking a joke at the expense of a Republican. That well-worn, lefty sports tactic was executed, yet again, by ESPN’s new Monday Night Football play-by-play man.

Apparently maintaining the pretense of objectivity and neutrality has just grown entirely too tiresome.

Curt Schilling is still bringing the heat against his former employer. In an appearance on the Dan Patrick Show on NBC, Schilling let fly with a scathing rant about why he got fired, and the hypocrisy of ESPN.
