Super Bowl 55 will be remembered as a game that lacked competitiveness, but also one in which the NFL and CBS rammed social justice down the throats of viewers. Those on the Right found much of it offensive, but at least one media lefty – Deadspin blogger Julie DiCaro -- is critical of the event, too.

On Sunday’s CNN Newsroom, host Fredricka Whitfield brought on correspondent Randi Kaye for a laughably bad segment which almost seemed like a parody of CNN. Kaye, who was tasked with covering Tampa Bay during the Super Bowl this weekend, bragged about her double mask due to the large crowds in Tampa and about calling the cops on maskless fans.

NY Post’s Phil Mushnick predicted the NFL season would end with “reminders that we’re all racists who need to change our ways."

Nothing demonstrates how sports writing has changed over the years like the Super Bowl coverage we’re seeing. There is scant focus on matchups or x’s and o’s, but ample Super Bowl coverage is accorded to the peripheral and the bizarre.
