Fresh off off her stunning Democratic congressional primary victory over entrenched incombent Joe Crowley (NY-14), Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez appeared on Univision's Sunday public affairs show, Al Punto- an interview as predictable for its fawning as for the candidate's struggle to articulate preferred policy outcomes.

The architect has fallen. The shakeup at Univision continues apace, and Chief Content Officer Isaac Lee becomes the most recent high-level departure at the beleaguered media giant.

A rag-tag bunch of 10 protesters calling for the abolition of ICE received feature-coverage treatment on Telemundo, the same network which did not consider the 164,000 Hispanics entering the labor force in June and record-low Hispanic unemployment sufficiently newsworthy to even be mentioned.

In the latest example of slanted and distorted reporting against local, state and federal law enforcement officers, Telemundo host María Celeste Arrarás declared that members of the Austin, Texas Police Department were guilty of ‘classic abuse’ as she showed viewers a recent viral arrest video and failed to include in her report key facts about the case.

Univision’s purchase of the remnants of the Gawker group was, predictably, the chronicle of a disaster foretold. Media reports now suggest that this disaster has, in fact, arrived for the nation’s largest domestic Spanish-language network.

On the morning of July 6, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics announced that Hispanic unemployment in the United States had reached its lowest level, 4.6%, in the 45 years since the agency first started keeping records on the statistic, back in 1973. One would think such a historic achievement would be news that night on the nation’s leading Spanish-language television news…

In yet another disservice to its viewers, Telemundo, the Spanish-language sister television network of NBC, chose to blast the headline “Trump Against Minorities” when reporting on the Trump administration’s revocation of Obama-era guidelines on affirmative action.

All too often, top U.S. Spanish-language television anchors and reporters are prone to injecting their own liberal opinions into their reporting. A prime example took place in recent days during the Mexican presidential campaign, when Univision correspondent Jaime García reported on how the election of Andrés Manuel López Obrador as Mexico’s new President may change relations between that country…

The new Republican-led, bipartisan Puerto Rico statehood admission bill was basically ignored on all the top U.S. English and Spanish-language television networks, except for...wait for it...CNN en Español.

Con frecuencia hemos dicho que la inmigración es el corazón de la agenda pública de Univisión, pero la cadena también se ha dado a la tarea de promulgar otras políticas de corte liberal. Tal y como queda claro en la cobertura de la cadena sobre el fallo del Tribunal Supremo de los Estados Unidos en el caso NIFLA v. Becerra, el aborto ocupa el puntero de esa lista.

La cadena Univisión no puede dejar de proclamar su resolución predilecta al estatus territorial de Puerto Rico de casi 120 años- ni siquiera cuando reporta sobre la radicación de un proyecto de ley que enmendaría esta anomalía histórica y convertiría a Puerto Rico en el Estado 51 de la Unión.

Una edición reciente del Noticiero Univisión expone la hipocresía de políticas de identidad latina. Resulta que hay nacionalismos que sí son aceptables.
