Evidently, you can’t make Lena Dunham go away, no matter how much you want her to.
As soon as HBO Girls star Lena Dunham announced she was leaving Twitter, many Americans gave a collective sigh of relief. At least, there was one less way for Dunham to annoy us. The relief was short-lived however; hardly a week has gone by and HBO announced another show was in the works with Dunham as the director and co-producer. You’ll never guess what the subject is either -- wait, maybe you will -- feminism; particularly 1960s feminism. The most exciting kind!
Variety reported Tuesday that a pilot was in the works for the half-hour show called Max, about an “ambitious magazine writer who stumbles her way into the women’s movement,” according to Variety. Wonder if they’ll glamorize Cosmo magazine’s sleazy start?
Since Dunham will join two other Girls writers as part of Max’s writing and production team, the show is bound to be rife with Dunham’s charming insights into gender relations, like the ones she has already shared with us in her book and on social media. Such as when she proudly said, “I don’t care what conservative white men think about me” in an interview but then blamed those same conservative white men for supposedly bullying her off Twitter.
Or when she compared dating a Republican to dating a Nazi.
