In Estrella Network’s evening show journalists Mirthala Salinas and Armando Guzmán spend an entire segment attacking both old and new election reform laws by framing them with the same old nondescript racist and anti-minority ideas.
Watch as they push the typical democratic agenda that all Republican-promoted legislation targets racial minorities:

ARMANDO GUZMÁN: Get-out-the-vote groups met today with the vice president and the president. They all have a sense of urgency and they encouraged the president to have the same urgency because they've already tried to prevent what's happening in the states by going to Congress- and they lost. They also appealed to the Supreme Court- and lost. What they now need is for the administration to come up with a new plan. Urgently so.
There is absolutely no explanation within this report on why and how these laws require the President to take such urgent action against some basic voting-security laws. Are they perhaps hiding the fact that perhaps among the racial minorities they are trying to defend are illegal immigrants who have no right to vote anyway? The lack of mention of voter ID or of ballot harvesting bans seem to make that clear.
What’s worse: despite decrying racism and an unexplained harm to minorities, these networks prove to be racist themselves as they have low expectations for these communities and treat them as if they are too dense to figure out some basic legal procedures such as obtaining an ID, registering to vote, or even finding their local DMV.
Take a look at these segments from an article from the American Bar Association which demonstrate the active belittlement of minorities initiated by the voting rights movement that channels such as Estrella TV advocate:
Voter ID laws have underlying racial biases and prevent minorities from engaging in active democratic participation. These requirements compel an individual to present his or her ID in order to cast a ballot on Election Day. Obtaining an ID can be costly and requires an individual’s birth certificate, which may be burdensome . . .Individuals who lack government-issued identification are more likely to be younger, less educated, and impoverished, and—most notably—nonwhite . . .It is also far more difficult for members of minority communities to be able to locate polling places on Election Day.
These networks aid and abet this soft bigotry, blatantly spreading disinformation in the process.

ARMANDO GUZMÁN: President Joe Biden is resolute on states not preventing racial minorities from voting. See for yourselves. First of all, in Texas, the state legislature is back and Republican representatives are waiting for guidance from Governor Greg Abbott on how to proceed. In this letter, Latino representatives demand public hearings before voting on voting restrictions that will make it more difficult to vote in all elections. In Texas, the fight over the so-called SB7, which limits early voting and restricts the advantages that people have today in order to vote at each election. Democrats are blaming Republicans.
TREY MARTINEZ FISCHER: What was negotiated in the middle of the night, literally, were provisions that no one had seen before, that was going to silence the voices of voters.
ARMANDO GUZMÁN: Then there’s New York City, where Democrats chose a candidate for mayor and Katherine Garcia came in second place.The problem is that the election authorities made a mistake in the vote count that (resulted in an) increase of one hundred and thirty-five thousand participating voter ballots. Mistakes such as these encourage those who demand reforms to the system.

ARMANDO GUZMÁN: Cases in Minnesota, very similar to those in Arizona, where Republican-majority governments are imposing restrictions on voting by racial minorities. Forty-eight states have imposed three hundred and forty-six reforms that will make it harder for you to vote. By the way, the Justice Department finally sued the state of Georgia and its new election laws. The attorney general argues that they are laws to prevent people in general from voting, but especially Latinos and African Americans. This is the first major voting rights case brought by the Joe Biden’s Justice Department, and it's because Republican state lawmakers have passed laws that critics say would restrict the right to vote.
MERRICK GARLAND: The rights of all eligible citizens to vote are the central pillars of our democracy.
ARMANDO GUZMÁN: Georgia passed its new election law in March, after huge percentages of votes by Latinos and African Americans in the 2020 polls.
KAMALA HARRIS: This campaign is grounded in the firm belief that everyone’s vote matters.
