If one thing can be counted on since Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) announced his presidential campaign, it’s that the nation’s top Spanish-language networks will give more coverage to the pro-amnesty protesters stalking the Senator’s campaign and interrupting his speeches than to the substance of what is happening and what Rubio is actually saying at those events.
The latest example occurred during the recent gathering of the Faith and Freedom Coalition in Washington. There, both Univision and MundoFox highlighted the antics of the protesters who interrupted Rubio speech’s demanding legal status for unauthorized immigrants. One of the protesters, Sergio Varela, chastised Rubio for not being willing to give them “the opportunities that were given to him and his parents.
SERGIO VARELA: Especially him, because his parents are from Cuba. So why can he not give us the opportunities that were given to him and his parents?
Ignoring the Senator’s record on immigration, Univision anchor Enrique Acevedo did note that Rubio’s package of proposals, if he becomes President, includes "lowering taxes and repealing President Obama’s health care reform".
In contrast, Telemundo did not hype the incident and during its Sunday talk show, Enfoque, the former Treasurer of the United States, Rosario Marín, was given the opportunity to explain that Senator Rubio previously tried, indeed, to pass legislation to legalize children illegally brought to the U.S. through no fault of their own. On the one hand, Marín pointed out that Rubio’s initiative was a permanent solution, a law. On the other, that President Obama’s executive action known as DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) only offers temporary protection.

REPORTER: Sergio Varela, one of those who forced Rubio to stop talking during his speech, showed his indignation because of the fact that a politician with immigrant origins did not once mention that the opportunities he talked about were possible thanks to immigration measures.
SERGIO VARELA: Especially him, because his parents are from Cuba. So why can he not give us the opportunities that were given to him and his parents?

ENRIQUE ACEVEDO, ANCHOR: A group of undocumented interrupted the speech of Republican candidate Marco Rubio, in which he referred to his immigrant roots. The Cuban-American candidate was in the middle of his speech when activists demanded the extension of deferred action and the implementation of the program known as DAPA. In a big package of proposals, if he becomes president, among them lowering taxes and repealing President Barack Obama’s health care reform, Rubio avoided mentioning immigration reform.

ROSARIO MARIN, FORMER U.S. TREASURER: Yes, look, I believe it is important we speak here, very seriously. The reason we could even talk about immigration reform was because of Senator Rubio, because he was going to promote what today is known as DACA, which is what the President made an executive order. But Marco Rubio, the Senator, was going to make a law. The Democrats and certainly Senator Clinton have not done anything for immigration. And the President when he had the opportunity, decided to do other things. Now, Governor Jeb Bush, he said and said very clearly, without discussion, that when he becomes President, the first thing he is going to do is remove that executive action and make it a law for all those young people, children, who came here through no fault on their own, so they have an opportunity to be here legally, but by law, not a temporary question, a crumb which is what they gave us with this Executive Order.
