On Monday afternoon’s MSNBC Live, host Ayman Mohyeldin conspired with presidential historian Michael Beschloss to make deranged claims about the election. Beschloss prophesied that “we could lose our democracy,” to which Mohyeldin replied that if this election was in a foreign country that our “alarm bells would be going off.”
Mohyeldin began the segment by casting doubt about whether the election will be “free and fair,” to which Beschloss responded to with insane conspiracies about President Trump:
MOHYELDIN: But one central theme in all of this is how crucial that Americans feel that this is a free, fair and effective election. How do you think are we doing so far right now?
BESCHLOSS: That is absolutely crucial Ayman and that in retrospect we look back on this and say that the election worked and that we can all have faith in the result. So far generally so good aside from isolated reports. But the one caution I would give is, you know, over the next 36 hours, it’s possible that we might see things that we have never seen before. Everyone should stay calm. Demand a fair election. One bad very omen, is that President Trump, unlike any other president that I can think of in history has already been talking about threatening legal action, predicting that this would go to the Supreme Court, a Supreme Court of which he has appointed one third of the justices. That does not bode very well.
Mohyeldin then brought up the unconfirmed allegation that Trump will declare himself the winner if he is ahead Tuesday. Beschloss advocated for MSNBC’s idea of censoring the President if he does so and wished that Trump’s aide would “restrain him.”
The Democratic hacks then melted down over the “norm-breaking” Trump holding his election watch party at the White House:
MOHYELDIN: The President tomorrow is expected to gather supporters at the White House to watch the returns come in. How have other presidents seeking re-election waited for those returns? You know, you just mentioned Richard Nixon, I’m curious among others that come to your mind.
BESCHLOSS: Well, for example, Nixon in 1972 was president, won re-election. He didn’t have his election night party with his partisan supporters in the East Room, God knows. He went instead to the Shoreham hotel and they had a rally. That’s what presidents do. They make sure that their partisan political rallies take place in a hotel or bar room somewhere, not in the sacred East Room of the White House which is supposed to be nonpolitical. So now I guess, Ayman, you tell me. Are we about to see the spectacle of 400 people as reported wadded into the East Room, maybe some of them not wear being masks for a partisan event in this room that has seen so many sacred rituals like the funerals of Franklin Roosevelt and the lying-in state of John Kennedy? I don’t think that’s the way it’s supposed to happen.MOHYELDIN: Yeah, I was going to say, if the last four years have showed us anything, this is a norm-breaking administration. I just immediately think of the RNC and the speech the President gave there from the White House.
The two then pinned all election related violence on the right and made apocalyptic claims about the election if Trump wins:
MOHYELDIN: Let me ask you about something else that we saw over the past couple of days --this aggressive scene in Texas with the Biden/Harris bus nearly being run off the road. How close have we come to violence in our elections in recent history? And what I mean by violence, I'm not just talking about the isolated stuff, but I’m talking about these types of broad, similar pattern of behavior, these caravans that are going on, either shutting down highways or in this case harassing this campaign bus.
BESCHLOSS: This is totally out of keeping with the way we run elections in this American democracy. And even more out of keeping is to have a president who is the head of his campaign saying I think this is sort of a good idea. Maybe we can get some more or Proud Boys stand back and stand by. This is the kind of thing we've never seen before. We Americans have to be active citizens especially over the next two days. We have to demand that this be a free and fair election of the kind that we have always seen, and that this not degenerate into chaos. You know, we're going to have to sleep well tonight and make sure that we demand of our government and our system and everyone involved in it, that this election unfolds in the same way that elections always have.MOHYELDIN: I have to say --
BESCHLOSS: Don't do that, we -- we could lose our democracy.
MOHYELDIN: Yeah, I was going to say Mike, I’ve spent a lot of time covering elections overseas and I often say, certainly to my friends, if we saw what was happening in this country now overseas, what would we be saying. And certainly, the alarm bells would be going off no matter what country.
Of course, the Democratic shills did not mention that leftists are planning violence if Trump wins and that leftists initiated violent protests after Trump won in 2016.

This is an election that will be like no other, it’s in the middle of a pandemic, in the middle of an economic recession, civil unrest and so much more. MOHYELDIN: I wanted to get your thoughts on something that the President has been doing and this is based on reporting from Axios, President Trump saying that has total confidence that he will declare victory Tuesday night if it looks like he is ahead even before the voting is officially over. You and I tried to make the point using sports analogies that that’s not how it works. You noted Arnold Palmer did not declare himself winner of a golf tournament because he was ahead on the sixth hole and then decided to walk off the greens. How likely is it that we'll know the winner of this election Tuesday night?
BESCHLOSS: It could happen. But if we don't, and if you have a president prematurely grabbing at a victory he doesn't have, we should just ignore what he is saying. Oddly enough, in 1968 at 3:00 A.M., Richard Nixon who was running for the presidency for the second time was in his hotel room in New York and he wanted to just go downstairs and claim victory even though the networks hadn't yet given it to him, no one had certified that. His aides had to restrain him from going down and making a fool of himself. I hope the President has aides who will do that too.
