On Tuesday morning, House Republican Speaker Kevin McCarthy announced the opening of an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden for numerous instances of abuse of power and obstruction of justice that congressional investigators had uncovered. By Tuesday evening, ABC’s World News Tonight and CBS Evening News were enraged over the impeachment inquiry that was launched.
ABC was by far the worst during their coverage, with both anchor David Muir and Capitol Hill correspondent Rachel Scott howling over the news and lobbing smears against Republicans like “hard right” and “far-right.” “Under intense pressure from hard-right Republicans in the House, Speaker Kevin McCarthy is now launching an impeachment inquiry into President Biden,” Muir huffed.
“McCarthy said just two weeks ago that there would need to be a vote for this, but tonight, now saying he's launching it, no vote,” he added.
Muir made sure to hype the fact that all Democrats and a few Republicans were against the impeachment of Biden: “Democrats, even some Republicans, have been skeptical there's any clear evidence to take this step. And politically, could it backfire?”
Then it was the partisan Democrat activist disguised as a reporter Rachel Scott who jumped on the bandwagon to freak out at Republicans.
“McCarthy said he would not launch an inquiry unless the full house voted for one, saying it should not happen through a declaration by one person,” Scott cried. “But after far-right Republicans threatened to boot him as Speaker and former President Donald Trump turned the screws, McCarthy changed his tune.”
CBS was tame by comparison with anchor Norah O’Donnell huffing the impeachment inquiry “is taking place as McCarthy is facing mounting pressure from the right wing of his own party, along with a deadline to pass a spending bill before October 1 in order to avoid a government shutdown.”
