There's been a belief on the right that despite Joe Scarborough continuing to call himself a conservative, he has, under the influence of his wife Mika Brzezinski, and his social/business milieu, gone over to the dark side. I've often shared that skepticism about Scarborough, as earlier this month, writing that with his recent statements, "Joe has written himself out of the conservative clan."
So when Joe said something this morning sounding like he'd be inclined to support Liz Cheney in 2024, you have to wonder: was Scarborough being sincere, or was this just part of the liberal media's plan to fracture the Republican Party?
Note also that Scarborough claimed that Liz and her father Dick Cheney "don’t give a damn whether liberals like them or not." But with her harsh criticism of President Trump, and vote to impeach him, Cheney has made herself the darling of the liberal media. Witness the Washington Post offering her an op-ed spot yesterday to continue to blast Trump. So is Liz really indifferent to liberal love, or has she gone out of her way to cultivate it?
Speaking of Liz Cheney and what looks like her impending ouster from House Republican leadership, Scarborough said:
"They just keep turning that golf cart in towards Donald Trump. Nobody has ever jerked it the other way. And I just, I just wonder if they’re not playing right into Liz Cheney’s hands, ultimately, by making her actually the alternative that people like me and suburban voters in Atlanta and suburban voters in Maricopa county don’t look at Liz Cheney and say, okay, there’s somebody that believes in small government, there’s somebody that believes in traditional foreign policy. Yeah, sounds okay to me!"
Excuse us for continuing to be skeptical of Joe's born-again conservatism and support for Cheney. If it came down to Liz vs. Kamala in 2024, would Scarborough really jeopardize his sweet, multi-million dollar MSNBC gig by supporting the Republican candidate? Color us unconvinced.

The Cheneys don’t give a damn whether liberals like them or not.
MIKA BRZEZINSKI: They don't need them to validate them.
SCARBOROUGH: You don’t call Dick Cheney, her father, a war criminal for like two decades, and then like worry about whether Liz Cheney is liking you or not. She doesn’t! Like Liz is doing this because this is what Liz believes. And it is — I'd say it’s a turning point for the GOP, but there've been about 87 turning points for the GOP, Jim.
MIKA: And the sad thing is, it’s not!
