During the Pennsylvania Senate race, people who pointed to John Fetterman's patent inability—in light of his major, recent, stroke—to do the job as senator were met by the liberal media with accusations of "ableism," and flat denials that he had any limitations.
It was only after Fetterman won the race that his handlers admitted that he would not be able to respond to direct questions, given the continuing effects of his stroke.
So, when on today's Morning Joe, Mika Brzezinski said:
"This is not a matter of left or right. This is a matter of, can he speak to the issues? Does he have a grasp on the issues? Would he be able to perform the job as senator?"
You had to wonder: was Mika talking about Herschel Walker—or John Fetterman?
Okay, we knew better. Of course Mika was training her fire on Walker. Morning Joe has a history of it, including Joe Scarborough toying with racism in saying that Walker lacks the "capacity" to serve.
After Mika's spiel, Willie Geist chimed in to say "Remember, this all leads back to Donald Trump. This is his guy. It's a party that's scared of Donald Trump. He said this is the candidate, and they said yes, sir. So now they've been, for the last several months, having to make the best of what they can with the order they got from Donald Trump." This seems to ignore that Walker is a college football legend in Georgia, and the primary race wasn't the slightest bit close. Trump's endorsement didn't seal that deal.
Geist added Republicans were "patronizing" Walker, when they think "He's a Republican effectively, he's going to "do what we [Republicans] tell him to do. He's going to be a vote for what we [Republicans] want. He'll be a rubber stamp."
Oh, we see, Willie. Unlike Raphael Warnock? That brave, independent-minded, iconoclast who has only voted with Joe Biden . . . 96.4% of the time?
Note: Morning Joe regular Eugene Robinson was not on the panel today. But he has a Washington Post column out claiming [emphasis added], "If Walker wins, it will be because Republican voters decided that loyalty to party was more important than having effective representation in the Senate."
Not loyalty to party, Mr. Robinson. Loyalty to principles that are important to many Georgians. Warnock will not be providing "effective representation" for those Georgians, when, if sent back to the Senate, he will dutifully vote for lax border control, higher taxes, more gun control, etc.
On Morning Joe, Mika Brzezinski asking questions about Herschel Walker's ability to perform his job as senator was sponsored in part by Liberty Mutual, Walmart, and GlaxoSmithKline, maker of Shingrix.
Here's the transcript.

Morning Joe
12/6/22
6:17 am ETJEH JOHNSON: Walker is polling, you know, very low even among black voters in Georgia.
MIKA BRZEZINSKI: Well, I mean, I think, you know, I was talking to Reverend Al yesterday, and it's like, a lot of black voters are thinking, are you serious? I mean, come on, this is insulting. Sorry, he's not qualified. We can say it over and over again.
And this is not a matter of left or right. This is a matter of, can he speak to the issues? Does he have a grasp on the issues? Would he be able to perform the job as senator for the state of Georgia?! Are you kidding me?
WILLIE GEIST: Remember, this all leads back to Donald Trump. This is his guy. It's a party that's scared of Donald Trump. He said this is the candidate, and they said yes, sir. So now they've been, for the last several months, having to make the best of what they can with the order they got from Donald Trump.
And to your point Mr. Secretary, it's been, to listen publicly and privately, incredibly patronizing to Herschel Walker --
MIKA: Very.
GEIST: -- He's a Republican, effectively he's going to do what we tell him to do. He's going to be a vote for what we want. He'll be a rubber stamp.
