Nets Omit Hunter’s Connection to Chinese-Owned Cobalt Mine, Electric Car Push

November 22nd, 2021 9:30 PM

The apparent corruption of the Biden family runs deep, so deep that they’re mining cobalt. That’s according to a report by The New York Times which found a firm connected to Hunter Biden secured such a mine for the Chinese, at the same time his father, President Joe Biden, was now forcing the United States to switch over to electric cars. It’s the latest scandal exposing the web of foreign business deals the Biden’s commanded, but the broadcast networks yawned on Monday.

Instead of covering the corruption of the Biden family, ABC’s World News Tonight was busy hyping online Black Friday deals. And on CBS Evening News and NBC Nightly News, they were lamenting Chinese genocide apologist and NBA player, LeBron James getting suspended for a fight on the court.

“An investment firm where Hunter Biden, the president’s son, was a founding board member helped facilitate a Chinese company’s purchase from an American company of one of the world’s richest cobalt mines, located in the Democratic Republic of Congo,” reported Michael Forsythe, Eric Lipton and Dionne Searcey of The Times.

According to the report, Hunter’s company routinely made deals to secure mineral and mining contracts for Chinese state-owned firms in other countries. The paper went on to warn that “China might use its growing dominance of cobalt to disrupt America’s retooling of its auto industry to make electric vehicles. The metal is among several key ingredients in electric car batteries.”

Of course, the absence of the scandal on the broadcast evening newscasts meant that once again, Fox News Channel’s Special Report was the place to go to get important news.

“We also have new information tonight about a scandal dating back to last year's presidential campaign. It concerns Hunter Biden, an investment deal with the Chinese state-backed company, and what newly uncovered records indicate,” announced anchor Bret Baier at the top of the segment.

National correspondent William La Jeunesse also dug in to show the possible timeline of the corruption:

Hunter Biden flew with his father, then vice president, to China in 2013. At the time the media thoughts it was no big deal, and six years later neither did Joe.

(…)

10 days after that trip, Hunter formed Bohai Harvest Investments a private equity fund that, according to The New York Times, later helped a Chinese company acquire a cobalt mine in the Congo in central Africa. Why does it matter? Cobalt is a scarce metal, essential for electric car batteries.

“In 2016, at the time of the purchase, the Obama-Biden White House provided $4.5 billion to help power electric cars and today President Biden wants to go entirely electric making manufacturers dependent on the very cobalt mines his son helped sell to the Chinese,” he added.

In March of 2017, NBC Nightly News lauded some liberal owners of a wine bar in Washington, D.C. who sued then-President Trump because of the Trump International Hotel, whining about it allegedly breaking the emoluments clause. Not so much as a peep out of the network now.

This attempt to hide the corruption of the Biden family was made possible because of lucrative sponsorships from WeatherTech on ABC, Dawn on CBS, and Downy on NBC. Their contact information is linked so you can tell them about the biased news they fund.

WILLIAM LA JEUNESSE: Hunter Biden flew with his father, then vice president, to China in 2013. At the time the media thoughts it was no big deal, and six years later neither did Joe.

PETER DOOCY: How many times have you ever spoken to your son about his overseas business dealings?

JOE BIDEN: I have never spoken to my son about his overseas business dealings.

LA JEUNESSE: Now, however, that trip and Hunter's ties to China are coming under renewed scrutiny.

SEN. TOM COTTON (R-AR): It seems complicated and shady and something that you would expect from Hunter Biden.

LA JEUNESSE: 10 days after that trip, Hunter formed Bohai Harvest Investments a private equity fund that, according to The New York Times, later helped a Chinese company acquire a cobalt mine in the Congo in central Africa. Why does it matter? Cobalt is a scarce metal, essential for electric car batteries.

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA: I told you guys I recommend him.

LA JEUNESSE: In 2016, at the time of the purchase, the Obama-Biden White House provided $4.5 billion to help power electric cars and today President Biden wants to go entirely electric making manufacturers dependent on the very cobalt mines his son helped sell to the Chinese.

REP. JAMES COMER (R-KY): We all knew Hunter Biden is a walking talking conflict of interest. But I’ve been saying for months that Hunter Biden is a national security threat. Ahis is further proof.

LA JEUNESSE: President Biden claims no knowledge of his son's connection to the sale. But as a then 10 percent owner of Bohai, Hunter was entitled to significant profits.

Those involved told The Times they're uncertain why Hunter Biden was part of the deal. However, should the GOP retake Congress in 2022, Republicans vow to find out. Bret?

BAIER: William, thank you.
