Facebook Fact-Checker Won’t Acknowledge Possible Origins for COVID

January 5th, 2021 11:19 AM

Once again, one of Facebook’s fact-checkers has failed to acknowledge the facts — this time surrounding the origins of COVID-19. Now, even a leftist source has begun to concede that COVID-19 may have originated in a lab in Wuhan, China. Contributor to New York Magazine’s “Intelligencer” Nicholson Baker questioned whether the virus was released either on accident or on purpose.

December 8th, 2020 10:06 AM

Facebook fact-checker PolitiFact produced eight fact-checks that either used or relied on World Health Organization (WHO) numbers that have proven to be untrue. PolitiFact's 'Half True': Loeffler's 'For Getting Rid of Health Care'

November 30th, 2020 5:17 PM

Bryan White at the website PolitiFact Bias points out that the "fact checkers" are tilting in favor of both Democrats running for the U.S. Senate in runoffs. We noted PolitiFact cried "PANTS ON FIRE" when Sen. David Perdue dared to call his opponent Jon Ossoff a "socialist," but somehow it's "Half True" for Democrat Raphael Warnock to suggest Sen. Kelly Loeffler is "for getting rid of health…

PolitiFact Hassles Hice for Saying Dems Treated Trump as Illegitimate

November 28th, 2020 9:21 PM

One of the most annoying habits at PolitiFact is the tendency to treat standard political rhetoric as some kind of falsehood. Take Congressman Jody Hice (R-Georgia), who said of the Democrats, "If they truly wanted unity, they wouldn’t have spent 4 years refusing to acknowledge Trump’s 2016 victory." They called that False.

GOP Rages at PolitiFact Tagging John James 'Mostly False' But Accurate

September 1st, 2020 10:53 PM

Republicans are pulling out their hair again as PolitiFact uncorked another one of those strange rulings on Monday where they say the facts are "accurate" but it's still "Mostly False." Because they are not "fact checkers" as much as "context checkers," and they don't like Democrats being taken out of context. The Republican in this case is John James of Michigan, running against incumbent…

Twitter Moments Lunges with Fact Checkers to Spin for Dems 'Under God'

August 23rd, 2020 4:41 PM

Twitter Moments is as biased in curating the campaign as the “independent fact checkers.” It would figure that the Democratic convention would cause them all to fact check…..the Republicans, not the Democrats. Promoted at the top of the Moments this morning was this gem: "The DNC did not remove the phrase 'under God' from the Pledge of Allegiance, Snopes and PolitiFact confirm."

AP Fact Check Flags Michelle Obama on Kids 'Thrown Into Cages'

August 18th, 2020 1:01 PM

The Associated Press “Fact Check” squad overwhelmingly focuses on Donald Trump, but they probably shocked their media clients on Tuesday by flagging Michelle Obama’s pre-taped convention speech as repeating distortions about a policy starting under Obama.

Facebook Gives Even More Power to Its Leftist Fact-Checkers

August 12th, 2020 4:35 PM

Two massive announcements from Facebook have revealed just how much Facebook has given up all pretense at being fair to conservatives. Facebook announced new rules this week clarifying its hate speech policy and stating that it may even fact-check opinion pieces on the platform. Facebook sent a statement to the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) Monday night, declaring that opinion…

August 8th, 2020 6:43 AM

Matt Palumbo at Bongino.com took issue with the extremely biased nature of PolitiFact's "Truth-O-Meter" in assessing "facts." The controversy? This week, President Trump signed an executive order to prevent illegal immigrants from being counted for the purposes of re-apportioning congressional districts after the 2020 census.

PolitiFact Rules Pence's Accurate Quotes of Biden Were 'Mostly False'

July 23rd, 2020 10:57 PM

Vice President Mike Pence drew a "Mostly False" recently from PolitiFact for telling a Philadelphia gathering of police officers that "Joe Biden said that well-armed police, in his words, ‘become the enemy’ and he said that he would ‘absolutely cut funding for law enforcement.’" He quoted Biden accurately, but PolitiFact ruled "Mostly False."

PolitiFact Nervously Adds 'Context' to Biden's 'Racial Jungle' Bungle

July 10th, 2020 2:24 PM

PolitiFact chose to spotlight a "Viral Image" on Facebook, and that image carried a Biden quote that wasn't quite right about how we didn't want his children to grow up in a "racial jungle." But it certainly captured Biden's sentiment. It might suggest that PolitiFact is trying to shame pro-Trump people from sharing Biden's old record too energetically.
