Once again, one of Facebook’s fact-checkers has failed to acknowledge the facts — this time surrounding the origins of COVID-19. Now, even a leftist source has begun to concede that COVID-19 may have originated in a lab in Wuhan, China. Contributor to New York Magazine’s “Intelligencer” Nicholson Baker questioned whether the virus was released either on accident or on purpose. 

Facebook fact-checker PolitiFact produced eight fact-checks that either used or relied on World Health Organization (WHO) numbers that have proven to be untrue. A new report from CNN shows that communist China was lying about how many of its citizens had contracted COVID-19 and how many deaths resulted from it.

Conservative commentator Candace Owens fought back against Facebook’s left-wing fact-checker PolitiFact and won. The fact-checker retracted a “false” rating it gave to a video posted by Owens on Nov. 12, and issued a correction admitting fault.

Bryan White at the website PolitiFact Bias points out that the "fact checkers" are tilting in favor of both Democrats running for the U.S. Senate in runoffs. We noted PolitiFact cried "PANTS ON FIRE" when Sen. David Perdue dared to call his opponent Jon Ossoff a "socialist," but somehow it's "Half True" for Democrat Raphael Warnock to suggest Sen. Kelly Loeffler is "for getting rid of health…

One of the most annoying habits at PolitiFact is the tendency to treat standard political rhetoric as some kind of falsehood. Take Congressman Jody Hice (R-Georgia), who said of the Democrats, "If they truly wanted unity, they wouldn’t have spent 4 years refusing to acknowledge Trump’s 2016 victory." They called that False.

Facebook’s left-wing fact-checking network censored yet another pro-Trump ad. The ad snarkily suggested that Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden “accidentally” told the truth in stating that Americans taxes would be raised if he is elected. 

This is Joe Biden’s five PolitiFact rulings for the month of August: Mostly True, Mostly True, Mostly True, Mostly True, and Mostly True. Now let’s compare that to “Truth-O-Meter” rulings for August for President Trump.  Let’s see: Mostly False, False, False, False, Mostly False, Half True, False, False, False, Mostly False, False, Pants on Fire, False, Pants on Fire, and False. 

Republicans are pulling out their hair again as PolitiFact uncorked another one of those strange rulings on Monday where they say the facts are "accurate" but it's still "Mostly False." Because they are not "fact checkers" as much as "context checkers," and they don't like Democrats being taken out of context. Twitter Moments is as biased in curating the campaign as the “independent fact checkers.” It would figure that the Democratic convention would cause them all to fact check…..the Republicans, not the Democrats. Promoted at the top of the Moments this morning was this gem: "The DNC did not remove the phrase 'under God' from the Pledge of Allegiance, Snopes and PolitiFact confirm."

Matt Palumbo at Bongino.com took issue with the extremely biased nature of PolitiFact's "Truth-O-Meter" in assessing "facts." The controversy? This week, President Trump signed an executive order to prevent illegal immigrants from being counted for the purposes of re-apportioning congressional districts after the 2020 census.

Vice President Mike Pence drew a "Mostly False" recently from PolitiFact for telling a Philadelphia gathering of police officers that "Joe Biden said that well-armed police, in his words, ‘become the enemy’ and he said that he would ‘absolutely cut funding for law enforcement.’" He quoted Biden accurately, but PolitiFact ruled "Mostly False."

PolitiFact chose to spotlight a "Viral Image" on Facebook, and that image carried a Biden quote that wasn't quite right about how we didn't want his children to grow up in a "racial jungle." But it certainly captured Biden's sentiment. It might suggest that PolitiFact is trying to shame pro-Trump people from sharing Biden's old record too energetically.
