August 29th, 2012 1:44 PM
Yahoo has fired its Washington bureau chief David Chalian after NewsBusters exclusively revealed his offensive remarks that Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney and his wife Ann were "happy to have a party with black people drowning." Chalian made the comment during a live webcast of the Republican National Convention in Tampa. Here is Yahoo's statement:

ABC's Terry Moran and Yahoo! News Preach Roberts 'Saved' the Supreme C

June 29th, 2012 9:22 AM
The top of the Yahoo home page on Friday asked "Did Chief Justice Roberts save the Supreme Court?” That’s channeling the incessant spin of ABC Nightline anchor Terry Moran, who announced on Yahoo's web show Top Line: “Roberts rode to the rescue of the Obama health care plan, and maybe rode to the rescue of the Supreme Court, a little bit, as well.”  "We live in an era of punditry and hyper-…

Obama 'Major Address' Panned by Fans in the Press; AP Barely Musters E

June 14th, 2012 11:31 PM
If you're starting to lose Jonathan Alter, reporters at Politico, and other left-leaning outlets, you're starting to get into trouble. Double that if you can't even get Julie Pace at the Associated Press, aka the Administration's Press, to muster more than eight paragraphs relating to a 53-minute speech pre-positioned as a "major address." Hunter Walker has compiled several less than…

Yahoo News U.S. Home Page, 11 a.m. ET: Nothing on Walker, Wisconsin

June 6th, 2012 11:46 AM
To be fair, Yahoo News's main home page has a headlined item called "What Scott Walker can teach Barack Obama," a later reference to the slapping of Tom Barrett by a "supporter" for supposedly conceding too early, and the Politics mini-section of the home page lists three Wisconsin-related stories. But Yahoo News's U.S. home page (screen grabs here and here) as of 11 a.m. ET was a Wisconsin-…

Yahoo News Item on N.J. Mayor's Arrest Avoids Party ID; Short AP Item

May 25th, 2012 11:04 PM
If for no other reason than the uniqueness of the alleged crimes involved, the story of the arrests of West New York, New Jersey Mayor Felix Roque and his son deserves attention. It is getting some, complete with the predictable downplaying and omission of the Mayor's political party affiliation, which "just so happens" to be as a Democrat. Since it's currently appearing at Yahoo News, which…

Pacquiao had criticized the redefinition of marriage in a Friday interview: "It [marriage] should not be of the same sex so as to adulterate the altar of matrimony, like in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah…

AP's Kuhnhenn Gives No Space to Critics of Obama's Oil Speculation Plo

April 18th, 2012 11:33 AM
Yesterday at the Associated Press, aka the Administration's Press, the headline at reporter Jim Kuhnhenn's story on President Obama's latest excuse to add more bureaucrats to the government payroll ("Obama wants to target oil market manipulation") presupposed the existence of oil market manipulation when none has been proven. In 850 words, he didn't find any space for critics of the move, who…

Yahoo! Predicts Obama Re-election 'In The Bag' -- Prognosticator Has D

February 17th, 2012 12:43 PM
“The Signal” blog at Yahoo!  is grabbing attention for a very, very early prediction: “With fewer than nine months to go before Election Day, The Signal predicts that Barack Obama will win the presidential contest with 303 electoral votes to the Republican nominee's 235. How do we know? We don't, of course.” What an eye-grabbing gimmick this is. That doesn’t stop some people from posting…

February 3rd, 2012 7:03 AM
The Hollywood Reporter publicized that Yahoo! has "teamed up" with the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) to monitor "hateful and violent" comments on their many online platforms. GLAAD reported finding comments violating Yahoo's terms of service under an interview with the gay singer Adam Lambert. (There is presently NO space to comment on Adam Lambert posts here. Or here. January 30th, 2012 11:10 AM
Update: A former Santorum colleague at EPPC responds. [see bottom of post] Yahoo! News contributor Andrew Riggio yesterday evening cynically used the occasion of Bella Santorum's hospitalization and her father's accompanying temporary suspension of his presidential campaign to attack the pro-life conservative who opposes taxpayer-financed embryonic stem-cell research:

Yahoo Trumpets Study Supposedly Linking Conservatism to Low IQ

January 26th, 2012 3:51 PM
Yahoo! News, which recently entered into a partnership with ABC News, somehow thought it fit to use its "Destination 2012" site for the 2012 election to highlight a new study that found a purported link between conservatism and low intelligence. The headline for the story by LiveScience.com's Stephanie Pappas exclaimed, "Low IQ & Conservative Beliefs Linked to Prejudice." Pappas wasted…

Yahoo's Headline Implies GOP Debate Audience Wanted Uninsured to Die

September 13th, 2011 9:18 PM
Rachel Rose Hartman's Tuesday item for Yahoo! News's "The Ticket" blog carried a misleading headline ("Audience at tea party debate cheers leaving uninsured to die") implying that the majority, if not all, of the audience at Monday's GOP presidential debate thought that the critically injured who are uninsured should be left to die. In reality, only a handful cheered and/or laughed in response…
