On Thursday morning, ABC and NBC continued their blackout of the Obama administration’s plan to use the Environmental Protection Agency to regulate the airline industry’s greenhouse gas emissions.
After the “Big Three” (ABC, CBS, and NBC) networks all ignored the story during their Wednesday night broadcasts, on Thursday CBS This Morning provided a 21 second news brief to the proposed action by the Obama administration.
Co-host Charlie Rose explained that “the Obama administration is taking the first step towards cutting greenhouse gas emission from planes. The EPA says United States aircrafts emit 11% of greenhouse gas emissions in the transportation sector and 29% of the world’s aircraft emissions. The cost of replacing older planes could lead to higher airfares.”
Rather than cover the proposed EPA regulations, ABC’s Good Morning America spent 3 minutes promoting its own network airing of the NBA Finals. NBC’s Today spent five minutes providing their viewers with tips on how to turn your “trash into cash.”
As NewsBusters’ Curtis Houck noted, as of late the Big Three have repeatedly ignored recent actions made by the EPA which include punting on the agency’s recent study that found fracking does not harm drinking water as well as new regulations that target America’s waterways.
