Proving that their DeSantis derangement syndrome is incurable, Sunday's "Powerhouse Roundtable" on ABC's This Week went after Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis for wanting to protect public school children from perverted groomers and racial arsonists. ABC contributor and former Democrat National Committee chairwoman Donna Brazile lashed out at DeSantis and proclaimed he is "running on a 1950s America, not a 2050 America." Moments later Politico associate editor Alex Burns said with a straight face that President Joe Biden was "always more of a centrist." Going from trashing DeSantis to praising Biden within moments is the kind of contrast that makes even the casual viewer realize ABC is essentially state-run television on behalf of the Biden regime.
After falsely claiming DeSantis has "outlaw[ed] drag queens" and accusing the Republican Party of "going through another round of silly season," Brazile smeared the Florida governor as wanting to take America back to the 1950s for wanting to protect children: "Ron DeSantis is running on a 1950s America, not a 2050 America."
Once Brazile got in her dishonest partisan attacks on DeSantis, it was time for Burns to run PR for Biden: "I think there’s no question he's doing his best to sort of claim that center ground. People close to the President will say look he's always more of a centrist and that's true," Burns laughably claimed. Anyone who paid any attention to Joe Biden's career knows he's always been a liberal, not a centrist.
Burns wasn't done. He then shifted to the GOP's fight over so-called "culture wars" and how it's not a wise political strategy. "I think that when you're talking about drag queens and when you’re sort of fine-tuning sort of specific school-by-school curriculum choices, based on pretty right-wing cultural instincts. I’m not sure that speaks to parents and families in the political middle," Burns lectured.
Since when are the leftist pseudo-reporters at Politico looking out for the best interest of the Republican Party? Always beware when the leftist media gives the GOP electoral or political "advice." In fact, do the opposite of what they say.
It should also be noted that the entire political attack on Republicans waging these "culture wars" is disingenuous. Why is it not considered a culture war for the left to sexualize children, but if you fight back it's suddenly a considered one?

It doesn’t matter what happened in Virginia. I mean to begin to, you know, basically, outlaw drag queens, they had somebody going to a quote-on-quote, drag show to see if they had drag queens. I mean if you want to learn how to dance, come to my house. Don’t wait for a queen. Just come on! Okay, I’ll invite you over. But Ron DeSantis is running on a 1950s America, not a 2050 America. America of the future. So I think Joe Biden will have a real good advantage going into 2024 race.
MARTHA RADDATZ: And Alex, talk about Joe Biden, what do you see?
ALEX BURNS: I think there’s no question he's doing his best to sort of claim that center ground. People close to the President will say look he's always more of a centrist and that's true. But I think for his first two years when he had unified Democrat control of Congress, he did an awful careful job of cranking up that fog machine to sort of blur the ideological differences within his own party.
Now, I think he's facing a divided Congress, he’s facing an emboldened in some ways a Republican Party certainly on the hill. He's looking at a fight for reelection. That’s certainly not going to be easy assuming that he does run. And he's trying to minimize his political vulnerabilities on energy, on immigration, on crime. I think the risk to Republicans here, Martha, Donna, and Sarah talking about the Virginia election in 2021.
What worked so well for Glenn Youngkin was not just talking about culture war issues, it was tapping into the white-hot anger of parents and families in that moment about the way education worked at the height of the pandemic and their fears about crime. And I think that when you're talking about drag queens and when you’re sort of fine-tuning sort of specific school-by-school curriculum choices, based on pretty right-wing cultural instincts. I’m not sure that speaks to parents and families in the political middle. I’m quite sure it does not in the same way that the Youngkin campaign did in 2021. The risk to the GOP is you are spending time on these niche kinda sorta internet-right-wing issues while Joe Biden is out there minimizing his political vulnerability.
